The Past Two Weeks...

Here's Nicholas getting Emma to laugh. She really gets a kick out of all the faces he makes for her.

Close-up of our happy little girl!

Two weeks ago Nicholas tested for his orange belt in Taekwondo. He did really well at his poomse and the following Thursday during class his teacher presented him with his orange belt! Nicholas was grinning from ear to ear the rest of class. We went out to dinner after class to celebrate.

This past Friday Nicholas' class had their annual Winter Fest. I went with Nicholas last year and had a great time watching his class compete in "Olympic Winter Events". This year was very different...after a week of temps in the 50s there was no snow left... So they just ice skated on the pond the entire day. And even that ended an hour early when a new crack formed in the ice. It was a nice day - but hopefully next year will be cold so they can have their fun events.

Here's Emma hanging out with Rosie... Emma is wearing her very first pair of jeans (overalls) and holding her very first teddy bear.

Here's Mike holding Emma and trying to get her to stand.

Friday after Winter Fest, Nicholas' school had their annual Valentine's Dance. I took Nicholas and Emma to their first dance. It was actually a lot of fun! Emma slept through the entire thing - even with the music and all the kids screaming. Nicholas asked a girl to dance and had his very first slow dance. I must say that I'm a bit worried at how easily he asked her....I'm very afraid for the teen years... :o)

Nicholas also competed in a break-dancing contest. He did really well and got a bunch of cheers. The winner was a little girl from the kindergarten class. She was so adorable doing her break-dancing.

One funny thing - the DJ played Michael Jackson's Thriller...the kids just carried on dancing but as I looked around the room the majority of parents were doing the "zombie hands" and dancing....it was too funny seeing the generation gap. :o)
